GHMC’s Standing Committee Approves Rs 6,150 Cr Budget

The GHMC annual budget of ₹6,150 crores for the financial year 2022-23 was authorized and incremented by ₹550 crores compared to 2021 by the civic body’s standing committee.

 

The ₹6,150 crores budget incorporates and undertakes the capital expenditure that is responsible for sanitation, road infrastructure, drains, greenery, illumination, and other developmental works, which cost ₹3,350 core and the revenue income is ₹3,434 crore. 

 

In 2022-23 the GHMC anticipates earning ₹1,700 crores through property tax, Rs 1,200 crore through revenue generation activities performed by the town planning wing including providing building permissions. The other ₹63 crores through trade license fee.  

The revenue expenditure which undertakes establishment expenditure, salaries, and other things are ₹2,800 crores. 

 

The projects where maximum expenditure is proposed include the Comprehensive Road Maintenance Programme (₹248 crores), Strategic Road Development Plan works (₹714.49 crores), and Strategic Nala Development Programme (₹340 crores). 

 

Adding to the annual budget, five civic works and the proposals to keep on meals for Rs 5 through Annapurna canteens were also allowed by the committee.  

The meeting was chaired by Mayor G Vijaya Laxmi in the presence of GHMC Commissioner, DS Lokesh Kumar, and other accompaniments.
