Skyscrapers changing the face of Hyderabad

As Hyderabad observes more and more skyscrapers, the State government is improving infrastructure to assure civic conveniences.

Presently, in areas of skyscraper projects, construction of roads, underground drainage, water supply distribution networks, electrification, and illumination are afoot. These civic amenities add to vital projects encompassing new flyovers, roads over and under bridges, and foot overbridges, costing roughly Rs 265 crores.

Exclusive works to increase the drinking water supply are being carried out in Gachibowli, Nanakramguda, Kolluru, Kokapet, Tellapur, and Manikonda. Major labors were undertaken by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board. Meanwhile, new sewage treatment plants are being established to treat waste.

GHMC and HMDA officials stated that not only water supply and sewerage but traffic inspection is also on the list before authorizing high-rise buildings. Applications seeking permission for construction of buildings over 50 stories have been kept on hold noting traffic density where permissions for high-rise buildings were sanctioned.

The GHMC has set April 2022 as the deadline to complete 10 projects being built under the SRDP at an estimated cost of Rs 1,158 crore to address traffic needs in the coming days. All these facilities are under construction where these buildings are rising in.
